Pride of Ruwais deadline extended

The deadline for nominations for the inaugural Pride of Ruwais Awards has been extended to Sunday, January 7.

Pride of Ruwais is designed to showcase the very best the city has to offer, recognising unsung heroes in the community, the best local businesses, and those individuals who brighten your day.

The Pride of Ruwais – which will see 13 awards given out – will culminate in a gala celebration at ADNOC Hall in January.

To nominate an individual or group for a Pride of Ruwais Award, download the entry form on this site, fill it in online, and email it to editor@ruwaislife.com. Alternatively you can print out a copy, write your entry by hand and deliver it to the ADNOC Admin Building clearly marked 'Pride of Ruwais Awards - PMO Office'.

The awards up for grabs are:

Community Champion
Recognising a group/person that has made a significant contribution to a project of considerable impact on the community at large.

Environmental Stewardship/Sustainability
For a group/person that has contributed significantly to a project that has had a considerable positive impact on the environment.

Cultural Betterment
The group/person must have made a significant contribution improving the arts, culture and/or heritage of the Ruwais community.

Restaurant of the Year
A chance to recognise your favourite Ruwais restaurant.

Recreation facility of the Year
A chance to recognise your favourite Ruwais leisure facility.

Junior Athlete of the Year
The nominee – who must be 18 or under – must have demonstrated excellence, good conduct, leadership, and sportsmanship, made a significant achievement in their sport and brought
honour to the City of Ruwais.

Adult Athlete of the Year
The nominee – who must have be 19 or older – must have demonstrated excellence, good conduct, leadership, and sportsmanship, made a significant achievement in their sport and brought honour to the City of Ruwais.

Volunteer of the Year
This person must have made an outstanding contribution to the betterment of the community of Ruwais during the year.

Business of the Year
What’s the one business in Ruwais that you can’t live without?
Which store, restaurant or concession always gives you great service?
Now’s your chance to recognise their excellence by nominating the best Ruwais businesses for a Pride of Ruwais Award. Nominations cannot come from employees and should be from
customers only.

Employee of the Year
Is there a particular person that makes your day every day?
Perhaps you work with them and they are a great colleague, always willing to help?
Perhaps you’re a customer and this person always goes the extra mile to make sure your needs are met? Nominees must work in a Ruwais City business and can be proposed by either their employer of by a customer/client of the business they work in.

School of the Year
This category is for all levels of education in Ruwais – from Kindergarten right up to Higher Education. Judges will consider all aspects of school life in this category, so if you believe one of the city’s establishments should be recognised for positive improvement, social contribution, pastoral care of academic results, then nominate them today.

Lifetime Achievement Award
The person must have made an outstanding, continual and lasting contribution to the betterment of the City of Ruwais, not only in the nomination year but also in previous years.
The person could be in a single volunteer capacity or involved in multiple sectors of
volunteerism throughout Ruwais.

Ruwais Unsung Hero
The person – who must be employed by the City Management Unit of ADNOC – must have made an outstanding, continual and lasting contribution to the betterment of the City of Ruwais, not only in the nomination year but also in previous years. The Nomination must come from a colleague or manager of the individual, outlining the importance of the nominees’ contribution.
